Liberal Education
Designing for Liberal Education meant designing for college presidents, faculty, and academic leaders — people who read deeply, critically, and notice everything. The brief was a complete redesign and ongoing art direction of every subsequent issue. The approach: a literary typographic system — authoritative, layered, restrained — with a limited palette of black, white, red, and warm tones that keeps ideas ahead of decoration. Heavily commissioned illustration gives each issue visual distinction on a fixed budget. In 2025, the Society of Publication Designers awarded it a Gold Medal in Best of Genre — the highest recognition in publication design.
